This time we ban love Mahira Khan Valentine Day ruling LAHORE: Actress Mahira Khan Tuesday took a jibe at Islamabad High Court (IHC) verdict that prohibited celebrations of Valentine’s Day.
“Congratulations to us.. this time we ban #love. BalloonsvsBullets,” the actress wrote on her verified Twitter account.
Yesterday, IHC banned Valentine’s Day-related festivities in public places as well as on an official level.
The court issued the order while hearing a petition arguing that the day is not part of Muslim tradition.
It also directed electronic and print media to not give coverage to any promotion of the day.
The IHC directed the information ministry, federal government, PEMRA chairman and chief commissioner to submit a reply within 10 days.
Last year, President Mamnoon Hussain had urged the nation not to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
“Valentine’s Day has no connection with our culture and it should be avoided,” the president had said.
Mamnoon said that the day was not a part of Muslim tradition but of the West and urged that we must maintain our religious and national identity.
